THE SIGNAL
Fans of dark, psychological thriller-dramas tune in for complex characters, tasteful gore, and unexpected plot twists. They were once obsessed with heavy-hitter dramas like Dexter. And, this multigenerational audience had come to expect their favorite shows would have their own social handles that extended the fictional drama in their feeds. If we could hook these thrill seekers from the beginning as early followers, they’d be loyal to the series for life.
The show needed to be introduced with a level of tact and trust in its early audience — trust that they'd keep coming back to let their fandom flag fly if we said just enough to open the door for that to organically happen. Our number one KPI was mentions, since that would likely lead to episode views. So, we conjured up a way to build a world that would build intrigue week after week.

FRAMING THE BIGGER PICTURE
I led the social strategy and creative direction for the launch and the season, shaping the tone and pacing of how the series entered culture. Our strategy was to position our social presence as a tiger out of its cage. Knowing when to hold back and let the fans build the intrigue for us was just as important as knowing when to strike with the right content.
We created a social world that mirrored the series, balancing expected character-led moments with unexpected engagement bait content. Fans understood we’d feed them more of what they wanted each week, and that we always had a few surprises up our sleeves.

THE IMPACT
Yellowjackets Season 1 is the second most streamed series in Showtime history. Cumulative social mentions doubled over the first four episodes, and then exploded — doubling again in two weeks. Over the final three weeks, fan conversation continued to double week over week.
By the finale, this campaign was generating 32x as much buzz as it was during premiere week, a record of unprecedented growth.
